HONORING FIL-AM ASSOCIATION OF SCV'S FOUNDERS
HONOR. CELEBRATE. FOUNDATION. COMMITMENT. LEGACY
These powerful words best describe the remarkable men and women who laid the groundwork for what the Fil-Am Association of SCV is today.
Forty-two years ago, ten visionary founders worked tirelessly to build a solid foundation for FilAm of SCV. They invested their time, energy, and resources into a single idea. Through immense hard work and sacrifice, they turned that vision into reality.
The strong foundation they built has truly withstood the test of time. It has provided the stability allowing our organization to grow, innovate, and thrive.
After 42 years of existence, we formally recognized and honor these trailblazers last Saturday, August 29, 2026 namely, FRED BERTULFO, ART CARANTO, MIKE CHIODETTI, RUDY CORREA, JUN GATILAO, ED GATDULA, ADRIAN GOMEZ, LINDA HAYNIE, MARCEL IBARRA AND TESS MICU!
We owe our current success to their early leadership and lasting impact:
Building Community: Lifelong friendships were formed, and many even found their spouses and life partners through Fil-Am.
Preserving Culture: Countless individuals have discovered the beauty of our heritage and culture because of this association.
Earning Respect: Today, we stand as a highly respected organization within the Santa Clarita Valley and beyond.
Their core values still guide our mission today. Because of their groundwork, we do not just celebrate past achievements—we look forward to a bright future.
They created a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire and support generations to come.
To our Founders:
Thank you for your trailblazing spirit. We pledge to honor your vision by continuing to build upon the incredible foundation you left behind.
With deepest gratitude,
Fil-Am Association of SCV Family and the entire Fil-Am Community.

A WHOLESOME TRADITION,
ANNUAL EASTER FAMILY PICNIC!
We had such an amazing time last Sunday, April 05, 2026, at our Annual Easter Family Picnic!
The most rewarding part of the day was seeing all of the kids having fun, playing games and seeing their precious smiles, it’s simply priceless! And the adults equally had a great time. We made new friends, reconnected with previous members and strengthened the bond among our Fil-Am of SCV family and beyond.
Our Picnic Committee headed by Board of Director, Christopher Luna, did an amazing job putting this Easter picnic together. We also acknowledges the hard work of the Committee members, Board of Directors and Trustees and our volunteers. And special thanks to host Alexis Riguerra who made our event a fun and exciting experience.
Thank you and we are looking forward to having you again at our Easter Family Picnic next year.
Maraming Salamat sa inyong Lahat!

"Honoring our Roots, Enriching our Community" , a theme which embodies the essence of our association.

FILAM HIGHLIGHTS
40TH ANNIVERSARY,
A CELEBRATION OF THE PAST AND THE FUTURE
OF FIL-AM OF SCV
BY: JACQUELINE FERRER-MARTINEZ, 2023 PRESIDENT & 2024 BOARD OF
DIRECTOR , FIL-AM OF SCV
40 years ago, a few ‘pioneers’ had the vision to unite Filipino Americans living in the Sta. Clarita Valley, to form a
social organization, become active in the community and be recognized as a united Filipino group. Thank you to
our pioneers, the late Adrian Gomez and Rudy Correa, Jun Gatilao, Cesar Obnial, Art Caranto, and Fred Bertulfo,
for having the vision.
On March 23, 2024, Fil-Am of SCV filled the Hyatt Hotel’s Grand Ballroom in celebration of 40 years of
philanthropy. Of course, the Honorable Mayor Cameron Smyth was on-hand to help us celebrate. Celebrating our
40th Anniversary means Fil-Am is even older than the city of Santa Clarita! This milestone was accomplished thru
the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, our Board of Directors, and Trustees. We depend solely upon our
volunteers to help our association thrive and do the necessary work.
