Congratulations to the 2023 JRSAA Recipients

Congratulations to the recipients of our 2023 Jose Rizal Scholastic Achievement Award!

After an extensive process of searching for this year’s recipients of the JRSAA program, the Scholarship Committee led by Chairperson Verna Arguelles and members Prima Olila, Zony Gordon, Mul Tayoba and Bert Salon, finally named the awardees during the June 8, 2023 awarding ceremony.

According to the committee team, they faced a tough task in deciding the recipient's ranking since all of them have over 4.5 GPA. In fact, one student has 4.9 GPA. After tough deliberation, with the combination of the students GPA and other criteria, they were able to determine the placement of the recipients.

Naliya Montebon from West Ranch High School garnered the 1st place, Stella Vianzon from Saugus High School got 2nd Place and Jonah Pasco from Bishop Alemany received 3rd place, and Ethan Capalad, Audrey Dornidon and Tyler Molina were given the Merit Award.

Island Pacific Supermarket has been a long-time sponsor of the association and with the generosity of Island Pacific's owner Mr. Nino Lim, the awarding ceremony was held at their Crab Mentality restaurant at their Canyon Country location. The guests enjoyed a scrumptious Filipino home-style dinner from their in-house Filipino restaurant, the PhilHouse.

The recipients were all in attendance with the exception of Jonah Pasco who was attending his internship but, he was proudly represented by her beloved mother Joy Pasco. The recipients’ parents, grandparents and siblings were in attendance as well.

President Jackie Martinez could not attend due to prior commitment, VP Myra Miranda stepped in and delivered a message from the President, a message of hope, motivation and inspiration.

The ceremony was hosted by Secretary and Entertainer, Alexis Riguerra who certainly made the event exciting and unforgettable.

These young men and women represent excellence in education and the promise of greatness in their future. Each and every one of them are bound to excel and become positive contributors to our community and to the society as a whole.
