City of Santa Clarita Proclaimed October as Philippine Heritage Month

On October 14, 2021 during the City Council Members monthly meeting, the City of Santa Clarita proclaimed October as the Philippine Heritage Month.


Mayor Bill Miranda along with Council Members Laurene Weste, Marsha McLean, Cameron Smyth and Jason Gibbs signed the proclamation certificate and presented it to President Myra Miranda.


Mayor Bill Miranda stated that it is very important to honor the Filipino community in conjunction with the celebration of the Filipino American History Month in the month of October. He further stated that the Filipino's have grown up to about 4800 families in the City of Santa Clarita and have been a strong and positive influence in the growth of the city which should be recognized.


President Myra Miranda expressed her sincerest gratitude to the City for the recognition. She said that the city and the Filipino community have a strong partnership which started even before the inception of Fil-Am association. The partnership has resulted in several projects and programs which benefited both the association and the city. Myra further stated that the partnership will continue because both the city and FilAm strive for the same objective which is to serve the people of the city of Santa Clarita.
