We said goodbye to Year 2011 and welcomed the Year 2012. In the same manner, I would like to say goodbye to my tenure as President of the Fil-Am Association of SCV, Inc. and welcome the new President, Alfredo Bertulfo, the board members and the trustees for the Year 2012. 

I enjoyed the year and I appreciated having had the opportunity to serve the association, its members and the community. The year was full of joy, excitements and challenges but ultimately ended with the association full of hope and aspirations. 

The association had several successful events during the year. We had our traditional Induction Ball, the Easter Picnic at the park, the June Cultural Festival (with the Academic and Youth Programs) celebrating the 150th birthday anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal, Camping, the Family Bowling Day and our Christmas Party. We presented our four 2011 Jose Rizal Scholastic Achievement Awardees during our June Cultural Festival event. 

The association also joined the SCV Fourth of July parade where we received the “Best of Theme” award and the “First Place” award for the Club or Fraternal group. For our Senior Program, we collaborated with the “Dance with Me” project of Tess Carlos at the SCV Senior Center and ultimately, we donated more than $2,200 to the SCV Senior Center aside from the fun and happiness that the seniors had during the event.

I want to thank all the Board Members, Trustees and Past Presidents for the support, guidance and encouragement you have provided me during my term as President. I will miss our interactions and working together on projects and events. I am profoundly grateful to all our sponsors, donors and guests of all our events. Your support means a lot to the association.
