2012 President

The year 2012 was a great year for Fil-Am Association of SCV.  I was greatly honored to serve as president of our association once again.  I was blessed with highly motivated and energetic board members and trustees who joined my bandwagon in upholding the integrity of the association and implementing programs in keeping with its objectives.

To them, I am forever grateful.  Together with the 2012 board members and trustees we give special thanks to our ever-loyal members, past presidents and patrons whose continued support had been a constant source of inspiration to us during challenging times.

Here is a snapshot of our activities and achievements:

  • Received final approval from the federal and state government as a tax-exempt non-profit organization under section 501C 3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

  • Installation of Officers and Trustees and fundraising to benefit the typhoon

  • Sendong victims in the Philippines and also the academic and senior programs

  • Easter Picnic – Attendance exceeded our expectations

  • Supported the “Wartime Romance” concert at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center by selling tickets and displaying WWII posters.  A percentage of every ticket sold benefited the Senior Center.

  • Scholarship Committee selected the top three candidates for the annual Jose Rizal Scholastic Achievement Awards

  • Participated in the 4th of July parade “Santa Clarita Volunteers”.  Our float was awarded 2nd place for non-commercial category

  • “Pearl of the Orient – Philippines Through The Years” – 2012 Cultural Presentation, a beautiful fusion of Philippine history, music and dance presentation. Proceeds funded the Scholarship and Academic Programs.

  • Philippine Rolling Exhibits “Centennial Celebration of Philippine Independence”– one week each at the three libraries (Newhall, Valencia, Canyon Country) in Santa Clarita

  • Annual Family Camping at Lake Cachuma

  • Family Bowling

  • Christmas Party – a family fun-filled event and announced 2013 Board

  • Published Kababayan Newsletters through E-mails, Website and Facebook

  • FACE Program – Filipino Academic and Cultural Enhancement Program – to promote Philippine culture and heritage through the education of history, traditions, geography, milestones, etc.

Thank You and Mabuhay to All who supported me during this year!
